The Undead

> Aloha!

> Ok, so yes I've totally sucked with my blog lately. I don't even
> want to try to figure out how long it's been since my last post.
> But, point is, I'm back. Maybe. For now. Just don't bet on me in the
> horse race.
> I'm on a plane right now, Tawfik sleeping next to me. Ironic,
> because I'm the one who's supposed to be able to fall asleep
> anywhere. My leg is killing me though, darn that bad circulation.
> Maybe I'm just excited to get there. We're on our way to Hawaii!
> Yay! Both of us are popping our Hawaiian cherries! We're going to
> spend 8 days scuba diving, checking out volcanoes and swimming in
> waterfalls. Yaay!
> Also ironic that my posts lately have been about my travelling. Way
> back when, before I moved to San Diego, I started my blog when I was
> travelling the world for work, so I guess I've done a 360. My blog
> actually needs a new direction and purpose - well, I guess I kind of
> do too, but I digress! Back to Hawaii. So we are travelling business
> class, thanks to a gazillion points that Tawfik has been collecting.
> We still had to transfer weight in our bags, yes they still charge
> for overweight suitcases, and I am NOT a light packer. Plus all our
> scuba gear... and no we couldn't have access to the lounge. At least
> we got food and a blanket duting our flight, right? Well my food was
> frozen. I thought my potatoes were ice cream. Seriously. At least my
> blanket was warm. Ok ok I'll stop complaining!
> I look out the window and I see lots of little cotton balls and lots
> of water... Maybe I shouldn't have watched Shark Week before
> leaving, because all I can imagine right now is big triangular teeth
> and ampulae de lorenzini, ugh... Ok ok, think of dolphins, and
> fishies, and turtles too! Those don't bite! Oh wait yes they do...
> More to come later!

Rhumba Party!

I am writing this on my way home on the metro... Cool eh??
Every summer, one of Montreal's major highlights is the International
Jazz Fest... An outdoor music festival that goes on for two weeks.
Every day and night there are amazing shows on stages set up around
the city, and it's all free!! I love walking around and seeing all the
different types of people listening to the tunes. This is one of the
things I miss the most about Montreal!
Tonight we went to see this amazing guitarist called Jesse Cook. He
brings in people from all over the world to play with him and his latin
rythms are infectious! It was awesome, wish it didn't have to end!!

Game, Set, Match!

The rain held off just long enough for my little cousin Camille's
soccer game... That's her in the #20 jersey! My uncle, normally a
coach but benched for this game, anxiously wiggled in his seat, as my
aunt and I cheered her on. At times she wasn't sure whether to kick
the ball or run away from it, but she and her team did great with a
4-0 victory!! Go Camille!!

Remember The Music

This is my earliest memory of Michael Jackson... We had a VHS tape from a special show that was aired called "The Making Of Thriller" and remember watching it over and over again as a kid. I think my my mum must still have the tape somewhere! I always have and will forever love music of all kinds, and will remember Michael Jackson for what he did best.

To Market, To Market

I love going to the little market down the street and seeing all the fresh fruits and veggies, and of course flowers! They converted an old train station into this little market, and inside they sell all kinds of cheese and breads and lots of other yummy things, while outside they've got all the produce. In the winter, this is where we buy our Christmas tree, all frozen together and full of snow waiting to melt away inside!

So Refreshing

I forgot how hot and sticky it gets here! As soon as I walked off the plane I was reminded of the heavy humidity... We've had thundershowers every day so far, but luckily the rain doesn't last long. Today my mum, my sister and I went and walked around a cute little village with shops filled with fun little things. We also discovered that they'd opened a branch of an ice cream shop called Le Bilboquet - what a wonderful surprise!! The original one is famous around town but not easy to get to... So of course to get a break from the heat we stopped and got a cornet. Mine was pear sorbet, and I got a taste of Marianne's strawberry sorbet and Mummy's rasberry vanilla. YUM!
